You are invited to the Annual Parish Meeting, 7.30pm in the School Hall on Thursday 14 May.
This is your chance to hear what the Parish Council and other village groups have been doing over the past year, and what we hope to achieve this coming year. We like to hear your views, so feel free to ask us questions during the meeting. It’s a fairly informal affair and is a great opportunity to catch up with your neighbours. We provide wine, beer, soft drinks and crisps. There’s also a super soaraway prize draw!
The Agenda is
1. Apologies for absence
2. Report from the Chairman of the Parish Council
3. Financial report
4. Report from Babraham Research Campus
5. Report from Babraham Primary School
6. Report from the Bush and Bennett Charity
7. Report from Babraham Farms
8. Report from the local police
9. Report from County Councillor Peter Topping
10. Report from District Councillor Tony Orgee
Interval: refreshments and prize draw
11. Report and AGM, Village Hall Committee
12. Any other business
Details of the PC finances are presented at the meeting, a summary is available to download by clicking this link
There is an idea to have a get together to pick up the rubbish in the village on a regular basis. The scheme called ‘rubbish friends’ involves walking through the village collecting rubbish. SCDC will provide rubbish pickers – so we don’t have to bend down, gloves and refuse sacks that they will take away at the end of the day.
If you think you may be interested and are willing to help at some time then let Lydia know via lydia.macpherson@btinternet.com
There is to be a Churchyard Tidy-up on 28th February at 11am – followed by lunch at the George.
Bring your garden tools if you have any, but if not, just bring your willing hands. We plan to work really hard for 2-hours and then go to the pub for lunch. Join us for the gardening, the lunch, or both.
The Great Babraham Sewing Bee is about to happen! unlike the version on tv, this isn’t a competition, and it’s about more than sewing…. come along to the George on Wednesdays between 3 and 4 pm and Thursdays between 10.30 and 11.30 am to stitch, chat and have coffee. You can learn to knit or sew – there will be a selection of needles and wool for beginners – or bring along your own craft project. All ages are welcome and we’re starting on Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th February.
Any queries, see Clare at 1 Oak Lane.
A bit of a premature invitation – sorry. It seems it was only intended for the actual Parish Councillors. Just look at the perks we get 😉
Sorry again, come for the ride anyway.
On Friday 31st October a Halloween Hunt for the over 10’s will be happening in the village. The hunt will start at 8.30pm at Blake House and will last approximately an hour. If you notice any of the clues around the village please leave them in situ, they will all be removed as the hunt progresses.
If anybody would like to join in the hunt, please contact Charlotte on 07788 242 788.
It will be compulsory fancy dress on the night so be prepared for a fright!
Some of the younger children in the village may be out trick or treating earlier in the evening and if you are happy for them to call please let them know by leaving maybe a pumpkin or Halloween item in visible sight.
Wishing you all a very happy (if scary) Halloween!
